End User License Agreement

1. This agreement

By installing or using Sigil you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, don't use the software; if you've bought a license, the refund policy applies.

2. Your license

When you buy Sigil we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use it. The license is perpetual for the versions it covers: what you've licensed keeps working, without subscription, for as long as you keep it installed. Which updates your license includes is stated at purchase.

Your license key states who it is licensed to and how many of your devices it covers. Sigil is licensed, not sold; we keep all rights not expressly granted here.

3. Free features and trials

Parts of Sigil may be usable without any license key, and paid features may offer a time-limited trial, after which they lock until a key is entered. Free features and trials are covered by this agreement too.

4. License keys and activation

5. Purchases and refunds

Sigil is sold through our merchant of record, which handles checkout, payment, applicable taxes, and receipts under its own buyer terms. Our refund policy describes how refunds work.

6. Updates

The app delivers signed updates through its built-in update mechanism (Sparkle), fetched from sigil.radio. Automatic checking can be turned off in Preferences. We may release updates that change or remove features.

7. What you may not do

8. Third-party device libraries

Support for SDR hardware relies on optional device libraries (for example the RTL-SDR, HackRF, UHD, and SoapySDR libraries) that you install yourself. They are not part of Sigil, are not bundled with it, and are licensed to you by their authors under their own terms. Sigil loads them at runtime if present, and works without them for analyzing recordings.

9. Using radios lawfully

Sigil is receive-only analysis software, but what you may lawfully receive, record, decode, or disclose varies by country. You are responsible for operating your radio hardware and using your captures in compliance with the laws of your jurisdiction.

10. Export compliance

The software is subject to U.S. export control and sanctions laws, including the Export Administration Regulations. You confirm that you are not located in, and will not export, re-export, or provide the software to, any embargoed country, and that you are not on any U.S. government denied-party or blocked-party list. You agree not to use or transfer the software contrary to those laws.

11. Privacy

What the app and our services do and don't process is covered by the privacy policy. In short: no analytics, no telemetry, and your signal data stays on your Mac.

12. No warranty

13. Limitation of liability

14. Termination

This agreement ends automatically if you materially breach it, and your license ends with it. Sections 12 and 13 survive termination.

15. Changes

The current agreement always lives at this address with its effective date above; material changes will be noted in release notes. Changes apply to versions released after the change.
