sigil.radio
Privacy Policy
Effective 11 July 2026
Sigil is built for people who care about privacy, so the policy is simple: the app contains no analytics and no telemetry. What you tune, capture, decode, or open never leaves your Mac. The little we do process exists to deliver updates, run the license system, and answer your email — it's all listed below.
The app on your Mac
- Signal data — captures, recordings, decoder output, bookmarks, settings — stays local. Sigil sends none of it anywhere.
- Session logs are written to ~/Library/Logs/Sigil on your Mac only. They are never transmitted automatically. When you use Help > Report an Issue, your report is delivered to us through our report service (Cloudflare) and Resend, and session logs are included only while the "include session logs" option is checked — the Show Logs button lets you read exactly what would be sent.
- There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no crash reporting.
Software updates
The app periodically checks sigil.radio for updates (Sparkle). An update check is an ordinary web request: our host sees your IP address and the app's version information, and serves the update feed. No system profile, identifier, or usage data is sent, and we run no analytics on these requests. You can disable automatic checks in Preferences.
Licensing
License keys are issued by name: a key contains the licensee's name and email address, the license tier, seat count, and dates, and the app displays them in the License window.
When you enter a key, the app tries to activate it against our license service (license.sigil.radio). Activation sends the key and a random per-install identifier — deliberately not a hardware fingerprint or serial number. The service stores the key record and its activations (identifier and timestamp) to enforce seat counts. Activation is not required to use the app: validation also works fully offline, and if the service is unreachable the app proceeds and retries later.
Beta program
To mint your beta key we store your name and email address, and we use that address to send the key and to correspond about the beta. When the beta ends, ask us to delete this record at any time.
Mail to [email protected] is routed to our mailbox (via Cloudflare Email Routing and Gmail); outbound mail, including license-key delivery, is sent through Resend. Correspondence is retained like ordinary email so we can follow up on your reports.
This website
sigil.radio is a static site served by Cloudflare. We run no analytics scripts and set no cookies. Cloudflare processes request data (such as IP addresses) as needed to serve and protect the site.
Who we share with
Nobody, except the infrastructure named above — Cloudflare (site, license service), Resend and Google/Gmail (email). We don't sell or rent personal data, run ads, or share data with anyone else unless the law requires it. If paid checkout launches later, it will be handled by a payment provider under its own terms, and this policy will be updated first.
Your choices
- Ask what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it: [email protected]. Deleting license records deactivates the associated key.
- Turn off automatic update checks in Preferences — the app then makes no network requests at all in normal use.
Changes
The current policy always lives at this address with its effective date above; material changes will be noted in release notes.
